Kim Alexisis spreading love this holiday with the ultimate act of kindness.

The model — who was a huge industry face in the ’80s — revealed to PEOPLE exclusively that she cut off 12 inches of her famous blonde hair to donate toChildren With Hair Loss.

Alexis’ major hair transformation can be seen in a video shared exclusively with PEOPLE. With her long strands tied into sectioned off braids, she stands while her hairstylist cuts off each pigtail, leaving her with shoulder-length hair on one side.

The result of the dramatic chop is a chic bob, which Alexis' stylist worked into beachy waves.

Since 2000, the charity has supplied hundreds of hair pieces and care kits each year, free of charge.
