Here’s the First Look at the New Tick in Action

Fans everywhere have been wondering : how can anybody replace Patrick Warburton as Ben Edlund ’s loopy great blue superhero ? Now , we get a glance of what the guy inside the freaky new Tick suit of clothes can do .

Entertainment Weeklyhas two exclusive clip of Amazon ’s revival meeting of The Tick , the latter of which features Peter Serafinowicz as the Tick chatting up Arthur , play by Griffin Newman .

Serafinowicz brings blustery , demented bluster to his portrayal , as discussed when I interviewed Edlund at Comic - Con last month :

io9 : rent ’s talk about redact . I ’ll never forget when I learn Patrick Warburton was going to be The Tick in the last interpretation . I was like , “ Oh my God . It ’s utterly utter . ” I think there ’s a lot of affectionateness for what he did in the short clock time he was able to do it . When they were talking about mounting it back up , the idea was that he was going to return . But Serafinowicz is a dyed - in - the - wool nerd . He loves his comic Book andvideo game . There ’s unlike animalism . There ’s dissimilar quirkiness and nicety . How did the difference in casting affect your approach to the character ?

Edlund : It ’s everything . It is the new expression of The Tick … at last , what we came to happen as we were doing this , it had to be a brand young manifestation . Everything was unlike . The way Arthur functions , the elbow room The Tick functions , the room the world function , the way we image it , the style the humor functions . It ’s different , in terms of less paronomasia . The thing that put to work in a cartoon or in a heightened universe , you could not use in the same elbow room . The puns have to be different . Sometimes they have to be structural , which means it ’s rhyming action versus thing that are more subtle but are built in . Here ’s the thing about the prior bouncy - action , which I opine as a piece , works . As much as we would have done other things with it , it did not need much more of itself to get what it need to get it across .
