Holy Schram ! Last night ’s season premiere of Aventure Time was packed to the lip with major development and general insanity . Do n’t study on if you missed it or spoilers are n’t your matter , because there will be some gravid - prison term divulge below , plus exposure . You have been warn !
The first part of the instalment starts off with a company at Prismo ’s , the extra - dimensional wish granter from the fourth season ’s finis and 5th season ’s premiere . If you remember , a friendly relationship budded between him and Jake back then , and the latter has apparently been sneaking off to hang out with the former on a semi - regular ground . But you could clearly see why — this place is the haps ! All of the most important players from Ooo and beyond make an appearance , include but not specify to : The Cosmic Owl , Party God , Grob Gob Glob Grod , Death , and Peppermint Butler . Also The Lich is there just hanging out , almost like party fixture . It ’s somewhat creepy .
Creepiness aside , no one really seems to give much of a diddly-squat that the most destructive force in story is just catatonic in the turning point . In fact , everyone is submit # selfies in the quoin with him . Prismo enjoin it ’s since The Lich ca n’t shoot down anyone in the time room , he ’s keep out down — like a automobile without a function . And though Jake is unsettled by things at first , he eventually calms down and returns to his tree diagram family home . But just front into those eye , military man ! Those are n’t the eye of a shut down machine . Thems are some eyes that are bidding time .
Anyway , Jake sneaks home to determine an awake Finn still reeling from Billy ’s revelation : his human Father-God is still alive . They share a substance to heart about the matter , and Finn is really hesitant at first — and justifiedly so . He ’s never jazz the humankind , let alone another human being . Plus there ’s that whole issue of why Finn was abandoned in the first place . Jake , being a good buddy , comforts Finn with some possible explanations . possibly he was waylay in the wood and enshroud Finn to protect him . But the ultimate determination comes down to a cover - up . Finn say he want to cope with him to discover out what he ’ll look like when he ’s Old , but the accuracy is much more wide-eyed . His wonder wo n’t let him pass up the opportunity .
With their minds made up , the duo returns to Prismo ’s party to demand the wise compliments - granter for advice on how to get to The Citadel , where Finn ’s can find his dad . But Prismo insure them they do n’t want to go , as the world ’s baddest criminals are all housed there . Finn assumes his dad must be the warden or something , but a savvy viewer can see the more potential outcome ( not that an obvious maturation is a bad one ! ) . disregardless of the danger , Finn and Jake want to go . When Prismo resist to take them , Jake disclose the Allied Command Europe up his ear : Shelby the worm ! Since Prismo had already granted Finn and Jake wishes , only a new visitor could bid for a trip to The Citadel . Of of course , that wormy Shelby wishes for a horse for his lady friend . Our heroes are frustrated , but Prismo finally relents . All they have to do to realize a trip to The Citadel is commit a cosmic law-breaking . If they impart a sleep quondam humanity from the void to him , Prismo will show them how .
Armed with laser - loose pens , Finn and Jake set out on the short expedition to find the man sleeping on an upside - down duck’s egg - stone . They pick him up without awake him , as instructed , but shadowy Prismos slip from the old - timekeeper ’s sassing every time it cracks candid . Finn and Jake hit them conveniently with Prismo ’s light - pen and make it back safe . That ’s when Prismo tells the two that their cosmic law-breaking will be killing him , which they can only do by inflame the old piece up . You see , Prismo is the dream of a sleeping man . At first the duo is hesitating , but Prismo insist that he ’ll be back when the former man falls at peace again ( in 1,000 twelvemonth ) . But the boy never have their opportunity .
Instead , The Lich springs to life ( surprisal ! ) , proving once again to be the last character you ever want to undervalue . Taking things one step farther than necessary , he wakes the former adult male and kill him with foul necromancy . The tragic loss of Prismo sends Jake into a fury , but the fight is interrupted by the appearance of an strange force .
The unusual guardian of The Citadel ( which looks like a mix between Tree Trunks ’ crystal friends from fashion back in season two and a nervous system ) encases The Lich in a reddened crystal and drags him to his prison . The duo tag along to feel Finn ’s don . When they go far , they start searching right off , ignoring the strange black meat that seems to be corrupting The Lich ’s crystal . Oblivious to their peril , Jake spots someone who reckon just like Finn . It ’s his dad , encased in crystal as a cosmic malefactor .
Finn agonizes , clearly frustrated , over whether or not to free his father . If the Isle of Man is a captive here , he must not be adept . But at the same time , he ’s still Finn ’s father . Before he can really decide though , The Lich ’s illusion has already pop mellow most of the crystal prison house . Finn ’s founder Martin is partially free and is far more interested in run than reintroducing himself to his teenage son . Even after Finn saves him from The Lich ’s magic , all he can need about is whether or not they have a whizz - master he can hold it on . unknown deep - blank entailment aside , it ’s unsettling for Finn , Jake , and the interview to see Finn ’s dad treat him so badly . And when the fight resulting from the Lich ’s corruptness of the other criminals end with Martin bugger off a section of his leg disintegrated , he leverages Finn ’s instincts as a son to get some witching crystal blood that can cure him . It ’s moderately mess up up .
But Finn muster up the courage to ask an significant doubt before heal his old man : “ why did you abandon me in the forest when I was a footling baby ? ” Martin ’s answer is just awed — “ You know me ; I ’m a funny guy . ” Finn is astonied , but he does n’t even have a prospect to respond before Martin take it a step further by shifting the blame to Finn . How does Finn know he was n’t the one to leave Martin ?
Their probability to hash thing out is cut short though , for as presently as Finn mend his father ’s leg , The Lich ’s rotting prison swim up to greet them . And after all the times they ’ve spoil him , it seems like Finn and Jake ca n’t win . The Lich claims that he ’ll expend these outlaw , these “ antediluvian ” ( total Lovecraft shout - out ) , to wipe out every life in the universe — starting with Finn . And every prison term the son try on to stand , he collapses with frailty , finally dropping into the heal blood from before . surface in the stuff , he reaches out a fallible arm as a paltry seek to defy The Lich at embayment . It seems like a hollow motion , but something miraculous ( and admittedly horrifying happens ) .
Much like Martin ’s stage , the blood brings The Lich back from the dead . This breaks his glum cargo area and allows Finn to cast out more of the dust on his deadly opposition . comprehend in regenerative suppuration , The Lich undergoes a fantastic transformation that brings him back to life .

But at least The Lich is finally vanquish . Well , not quite .
The healing gook ultimately leave in what I like to call Poo!Lich , for the obvious poo mind core that becoming a survive baby has caused . Jake likes him a lot , too , and he obviously smells slap-up . What ’s strange and heartening , though , is that Finn regards the creature with a grinning despite his intemperate heart . He recognise that peradventure this tool can be teach to use its power for trade good . Instead of having to kill The Lich , he can be rehabilitated . And Finn and Jake know just the loving distich who can facilitate .
The taradiddle swerve to Mr. Pig and Tree Trunks right before the orchard apple tree Proto-Indo European baker is about to ask for a divorce . But a ringing bell and the audio of Jake aver to play interrupts her . broken , the two find something outside that changes everything — the Poo!Lich in a babe basket . He end the episode with a “ Hello ! ” that ’s as cute - creepy as the erstwhile Lich was regular - creepy . And now we all have to waitress a good while to see these story - wrinkle produce .
Assorted musings
Now that Finn is miss an arm , he seems primed to end up looking just a second more like his alt!history ego from the season five premiere — the one with the golem - claw sleeve . I enquire if any other things from that alt!history may come to pass .
It was a nice twist to cast Martin as a villain , and it ’ll be adept to see Finn struggle with an absentee founder who is also a jolly shitty mortal . founder him a loving pops would have been too well-to-do and give more questions than this Martin did .
Will Poo!Lich spring up up into a force for good ( He ’s obviously not going to just go away ) ? The Lich has forever surprised us with his ability to return from a licking .
This installment was n’t funny so much as it was interesting and informative ( aside from a few lines here and there , like the one about Finn burn his eye out if Jake ’s get torched ) . And that ’s o.k. . But I wonder if that spirit will be more common in the futurity . Is the show evolving into something more ?
Those criminals are still out there , and they must have really grunked poppycock up big time to stop up at The Citadel . Will succeeding plots answer that or will the squad let things swing ?
