After the scrub assassins all neglect , Missy ( badly , Michelle Gomez is basically act Missy , moonlight in Gotham for kicking ) shout out Eduardo Flamingo , the cannibalistic assassin that Grant Morrison introduced a few yr ago . What would only be someone showing canonic manhood in a good show is a jubilant moment of morality in Gotham . Even if you do n’t retrieve it ’s kind of unadulterated , it ’s still hard to register as actual character development since this has basically been the same “ lesson ” Gordon has been learn and forgetting since Gotham debuted .

Meanwhile in the “ B ” story , Nygma has impart the ail Penguin back to his apartment for what ends up being the weirdest version of The Odd Couple I ’ve ever see . Penguin is dour over his female parent ’s slaying and his nonstarter to get retaliation ; he ’s quick to fall by the wayside and leave Gotham City forever . Nygma , who has completely sweep up his new life as a murderer , basically talks Penguin into getting back on that evil wagon train . Penguin spends most of the episode in seam , while Nygma tends to him , spiel him music his female parent used to sing to him , and gives Penguin a pep talk — a peppiness talk of the town about murdering those who have wronged him . It ’s very unknown in the better Gotham fashion , but it ’s not nearly foreign enough to make turn a bad episode into an entertainingly uncollectible sequence .

Look , if I really thought the show was going to have Gordon evolve from his current law - cut brutality machine into something resembling his law - abiding , deep moral comic book counterpart , I could get behind the scenes of Gordon wallow outside the jurisprudence he ’s sworn to continue , but again , Gordon has n’t evolve even slimly since the first instalment . He ’s still unforced to toss the great unwashed out window to get information , he ’s still glad to shoot anyone who devote him a understanding to , and aboveboard , if he was confining to gun down his ex - fiancée while she was unarmed last sequence , he ’s actually getting worse .

And the worst part is that I think Gotham thinks this is character development , that Gordon is actually germinate into the law - breaking , trigger - felicitous hero Gotham City needs . Because after Gordon fails to murder Flamingo , the assassin manages to tear the pharynx out of Officer Redshirt with his tooth , even though he ’s manacle . Gordon ’s act of mercy in effect got another fuzz killed . I ca n’t see Gordon making the same fault again .
