Teslaplants in Germany and Texas are bite money . Not literally of course , but these factories are losing “ million of dollar , ” according to CEOElon Muskin a late interview .
Elon Musk says that Tesla ’s monumental manufactory inTexasand Germany are lose a ton of money due to the on-going supply chain crisis plaguing the planet in an interview with the completely indifferent Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley . The 3 - part interview — titled“Elon Musk Unfiltered”—was conducted on May 31 at the Tesla Gigafactory 5 in Austin and was published on YouTube yesterday . Between thrust at journalism and the Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley members laughing a little too hard at Musk ’s flat attempts at humor , Musk discourse the issues Tesla has been have manufacturing cars in its Austin and Berlin gigafactories . He claims that those factories have been losing gazillion .
“ The past two years have been an infrangible incubus of supply chain interruption , one thing after another , and we ’re not out of it yet . irresistibly our concern is how do we keep the manufacturing plant operating so we can devote multitude and not go bankrupt , and then everything else is nice to have , ” Musk tell around the 6 - second mark . He continued later on : “ Both Berlin and Austin factories are gigantic money furnace right now . It ’s really like a giant roaring sound , which is the sound of money on ardor . ”

Musk cited the Covid closedown in China — which affectedTesla ’s Shanghai “ Gigafactory”—as a major source of this financial hemorrhaging . He also explained that the supply needed to progress Teslas with 2170 battery cells were stuck in China ’s port . “ We had the Shanghai manufactory inop , we ’ve pose the tooling to enable this manufacturing plant stuck in port wine in China with no one to actually move it , ” Musk sound out . This all led to Tesla ’s output to slow down , but Musk believe that the problem will all be fixed “ real fast , ” whenever that may be .
The global supplying chemical chain crisis is sending withering ripple event across the globe , as everything frombaby formulatocomputer chipsare not meeting the current demand . Tesla has already seen long wait lists for consumer interested in buying one of it cars — though that was the casebefore the pandemic — and with the current challenges provoke the company , that list is going to get long .
