Great news keep hail from the cerise planet . Curiosity has opened her eye for the first time . She took a good flavor around her and decided that spirit is good in Mars — albeit a bit lonely .
update : New images coming in , including panoramas and high definition images from the pedigree .
The Navigation Cameras — the eyes that will point her around Mars — have been activated and they are beaming perfect images down to Earth . The left camera may have had a job at the beginning , because at first the mental image was all saturnine and with a weird white artefact . It actually looked as if she had eyelids and was slowly inflame up .
This did n’t happened with the proper tv camera , which was post perfect double from the moment it was turned on .
I can imagine someone at deputation control singing Oh You Pretty thing ! in his or her headway . “ waken up you sleepyheaded heading , put on some clothes , shake up up your bottom … ”
The first two images sent by the remaining Navcam — on the left over — looked black and showed a uncanny artifact . The residue of the flick look everlasting .
Both sailing tv camera are operative now .
Update : The ongoing press league is let on some good poppycock . JPL has have the first gamy resolutionvideo frames of the descent , taken bythe MARDI camera . It ’s fairly amazing stuff . The terminal TV is going to search fantastical .

They have also produce new low - resolution aspect made from the thumbnails obtained by the Navcams . We will have the first high definition panorama of Curiosity ’s environment in a day or two , but this looks so upright already :
