Although it received a pretty tepid reception at first , the flick has since become a cult hit — so much so that Netflix isworking ona prequel entitledThe Dark Crystal : Age of Resistance .
The 10 - episode series is expected to premiere later this twelvemonth , but in the meantime , the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta , Georgia , has something to tide fans over .
